The doorbell for my home is no ordinary doorbell. Nope, it's a pi that runs off a 24VDC power supply and has the two door bell buttons fed to GPIO inputs with some mild RC filtering. The pi controls a bell I got off eBay that was built in Boston around 1900, when the doorbell button is pressed the pi will ring different patterns to let me know which door to go to. Furthermore I get a notification on my phone which door the bell was rung at.

I also setup the pi to accept curl requests from my other pi that monitors my wood stove so if the flue temperature gets too high it will ring the bell to get my attention to come to the basement and take care of it.

Furthermore, this pi is also my VPN gateway for our house VoIP telephone system so my daughter can call her friends on the phone.
